Salon Assistant
Description: Deliver outstanding customer service while providing high quality shampoos and conditioning treatments. Assist clients and team members as needed to keep the salon flowing smoothly, accurately and thoroughly. The role of the Salon Assistant include, but is not limited to the following areas:-
Tasks/Responsibilities:
- Shampoo and condition client’s hair for stylist
- Maintain salon appearance and cleanliness throughout
- Sweep around stylists' chairs and prepare station for next client
- Manage laundry for hair and beauty team
- Greet clients as they walk in and leave out and collect them from waiting area
- Prepare client refreshments
- Assist with stock deliveries and stock management
- Ensure bathrooms are fully equipped with disposables and are clean and presentable
- Wash and tidy away all client crockery and ensure the staff room is clean and tidy
- Wash off client colour treatments at the backwash
- Apply colour to client on behalf of Stylist
- Maintain the backwash area to a clean and presentable standard
- Stock and replenish all back wash stock items
- Clean brushes and refill water bottles
- Keep the Stylists product station fully stocked and clean
- Carry out complimentary basic blow dry services to clients
- Tell the appropriate Stylist their guest has arrived
- Inform clients when it is time to go back and get a shampoo, gown, etc
- Promote and sell services and products, including recommending and selling additional services and/or retail products which will enhance and improve the client’s image and/or contribute to the client’s satisfaction with services performed
- Report all equipment problems and maintenance issues, known safety hazards, or unsafe practices and procedures to Salon Manager immediately
- Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement
- Willing and timely execution of other duties as delegated
Minimum Requirements:
- Salon experience preferred but not required, this is not a hairdressing apprenticeship
- Must be reliable and punctual
- Highly articulate and able to communicate well with clients and team
- Great customer service skills and a friendly, positive attitude
- Must bedetail orientedand able to manage competing priorities and multiple deadlines in a fast paced environment
- Ability to easilyadapt to organizational and environmental changes
- Must be flexible to working days, early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Must be a Team Player
- Must have excellent personal appearance
- Computer literate
- Excellent communication skills both face to face and telephone
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to kneel, crouch, squat, climb, stand, sit, balance, reach, bend, push, pull and walk for prolonged periods
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal
- Ability to be able to work with water and chemical colour treatments with no reactive skin conditions to such.
